• Reading: New Novel Groups! Story (Digging up the Past) & Skills (Main idea & forming generalizations) from our Reading text book

• Social Studies: Chapter 5 - "Routes of Exploration to the New World"

• Science: Ecosystems

• Math(Whipkey only): Chapter 8 - Multiplying with decimals!

Upcoming/On-Going Events

• 1/4/10: NO SCHOOL - Professional Development

Dear Families,
Just a quick note to say thank you for all of your support thus far in our school year! Thanks to you, your children have enjoyed 5th grade camp, Kidpower and two marvelous holiday parties, not to mention, some enormous academic and social growth! • Spelling: Short vs. Long Vowel & /K/ sounds, skills assessment 12/17
• Reading: Finish up novels, answering reading questions in complete sentences
• Language Arts: DPE, Finish up books, Inventions
• Science: Finish Microworlds
  
• Social Studies: Chapter 5 - Routes of Exploration to the New World
• Math: Review 1st & 2nd Quarter Skills with games, worksheets and activities

Upcoming/On-Going Events

• 12/14: December G.A.T.E. lesson with Ms. Snyder!
  
• 12/15: 2nd & 3rd grade performance 2p.m. in the auditorium
  
• 12/18: Gingerbread House Building ***We will build from 10-12ish, then decorate from 1-2ish and finally clean up from 2-2:30ish:)*** Parents/Family Members come in whenever you can!!
• 12/21/09-1/1/10: Winter/Holiday Break

• Math(Whipkey Only): Chapter 7 Test Wednesday, Review 1st Semester Skills (Chapt.1-7)

• Science: Microworlds

• Social Studies: European Exploration

• Spelling: Short Vowel Sounds vs. Long Vowel Sounds & Spelling Patterns for /k/ sounds, Homework due 12/11!

• 12/15 - 2nd/3rd Grade Performance - 2 p.m. in the auditorium

• 12/18 - Gingerbread house building party - 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

• Non-Perishable food items are being collected until 12/13!! Class with the most donations wins a pizza party!
