Upcoming/On-going Events- 10/1/10 - Camp Packets came home 9/13- please sign and return with payment by October 1st!
- 10/6~10/8 - Fifth Grade Camp!!!
- 10/11 - No School ~ Columbus Day
- 10/22 - No school ~ Teacher Work Day
- 10/27 - Halloween Parade & Party
- 10/28 & 10/29 - Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences
- Whipkey's Math: Comparing & Ordering Decimal Numbers, Adding/Subtracting with Decimals, Fractions and Facts Practice
- Reading: Hatchet (Chapters 5-10)
- Media Integration: Country of Comparison project! Students will research a country of their choice and compare it with the U.S.A.!!
- Language Arts: Six Traits Writing Skill of the Week is "Word Choice." Students will focus on creating writing pieces with "juicy" word choice. Students will also work on journaling, grammar, and spelling activities in class.
- Science: Microworlds - Investigations using microscopes!
- Social Studies: History Alive! Chapter 1 - Geography/Maps

Parents:
If your child comes home with an assignment marked, "Fix and Return," please make sure s/he fixes it and returns it. This is my way of giving each student a chance to do his/her very best, grades-wise. If an assignment is not fixed and returned, your student will receive the original grade. ( I will only do this for grades below a C-.)

Hi Everyone! We had ANOTHER fantastic week together! Please be sure to call or email me to set up a time to discuss concerns or issues. I am generally working before and after school to get ready and caught up for the next day, week, month, etc., so having a heads up that you need to talk is helpful. Of course dropping in now and then is fine, but I'd prefer to know when to expect you. Thanks!

We had a FANTASTIC first week of school together! I had a great time talking with most of you at Open House. Now on to the business at hand...

- 9/13 - 8:30 STUCO Officer Candidate Speeches in the Aud. (Winners announced at the end of the day!)

- Whipkey's Math: Comparing & Ordering Numbers, Place Value, Rounding, and Facts Practice
- Reading: Groups start! Hatchet (Chapters 1-3)
- Media Integration: Country of Comparison project begins! Students will research a country of their choice and compare it with the U.S.A.!!
