Whipkey's Weekly Update ~ 3/8/ - 3/12/10

Dear Families,
Next week, CSAP testing continues. It is very important that your child attend school Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in order to avoid having to make his/her testing up. We will be testing each of those mornings until 12:00. Your child should come to school on time, well-rested, and well-fed in order to do his/her best! A snack of a cheese stick, and half an apple, as well as a bottle of water will be provided during this week (Tues.-Thurs.). In the afternoons this week, we will be attending shortened specials and reviewing scientific method for Science Fair. There will be no homework sent home during CSAP testing, other than Science Fair Project assignments. Your child will need to determine his/her Science Fair Topic, Question and Hypothesis by Friday, March 12th. Science Fair projects will be due April 14th and on display for families on our annual Evening of Excellence on April 15th. Please get started on these projects early to avoid rushing at the end. Fifth Grade Science Fair is judged in each scientific category and on an overall basis for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place by community members.
Our classroom is still running low on pencils. If you can send a pack or two with your child in the coming weeks, that would be extremely helpful. If you have any questions or concerns please give me a call or send me an e-mail. Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Chris Whipkey
